7 Pounds, 3 Ounces and our lives were changed forever………

January 15th 2008, 7:19 am – 7 Pounds, 3 Ounces and our lives were changed forever………….

I can’t believe that is January 15th already!!! This year has flown by. You always here that once you have kids that time will fly by, but I guess I never really believed it. It seems like just yesterday I was holding sweet pea in my arms for the very first time!!! She was so beautiful. She literally screamed for the first two hours of her life and it was the most beautiful sound I had ever heard!!! But once we got up to our room and she got to meet all of her family she was so peaceful. I remember that after everyone had left for the day I got up and took a shower. It was the first time her daddy had been alone with her since she had been born. I stepped out of the shower and he was standing at the door holding her saying, I think she is hungry! She had cried the whole time I had been in the shower and he had no clue what to do. He said they sang there ABC’s and other songs, but it didn’t help!! It was really funny!! That night, I slept in the bed and I placed her on my chest. She slept on my chest all night. I was so afraid that she would stop breathing in the night. That and it seemed so mean to place her in that cold hospital bassinette. She had been with me for 9 months and I wasn’t ready for her to not be mine anymore.

So much has changed since that night a year ago. My Husband no longer meets me when I get out of the shower to say she is crying, he calms her down himself. She slept beside us for 6 months but is now in her crib. I do still check on her in the middle of the night (we both do), to kiss her good night and to make sure she is still breathing. Yes, I am one of those moms who has jumped out of bed in the middle of the night just to run in there and make sure she is okay. And she always is and I am thankful for that.

She went from being totally dependent on us for everything to a total independent streak. If she can do it, she wants to do it!!!

Some milestones we have hit recently, we have our very first tooth coming in, she walks (almost runs) and pushes her toys, she stands up from a sitting position in the middle of the floor and just stands there, she has taken quite a few steps on her own. She says “Tank To”, which means Thank you when you hand her something. She is now not only waving bye and saying bye-bye (started that at 9 months), but is now saying Hi and waving hi. She squeals with delight when her cousin S. comes in the room!!!

She is now saying Daddy, not dada. She walks over to her daddy and just hugs him and says “Daddy”. It is so cute!!! She loves to give kisses and hugs, and she loves to love on her babies. She is still not 20 pounds yet, so we are still not in the grown up car seat, I can’t wait for us to graduate to that, I think it will be soon so I know she will be very excited!!!

My CD player in my car that once was filled with Tim, Kenney, and Brad, is now replaced with Nursery Rhymes and Silly Songs which Sweet Pea loves and yes, I have fun singing along with them too!!

They lady that keeps sweet pea (which we LOVE by the way) commented on how sweet pea is her own biggest cheerleader!!! She claps for herself all day long!!! At home we are always clapping and encouraging her and so it is very funny that she does it for herself. She even claps when I blow dry my hair!!! Which I hate blow drying my hair so I can use the encouragement!!

She loves to give High Five’s and play patty cake (except her version of patty cake is just clapping). And for some reason she is fascinated with the shower in our bathroom, I guess because it is glass doors all the way around. She loves her bathtub too, every chance she gets she runs in there and just talks to her bath and laughs!!! She is defiantly a water baby!!! We have been in the big girl bathtub for over a month or so now and the splashing and having fun never gets old!

And then there is the talking!!! She talks non stop. And she thinks you understand her. She even pauses for you to respond!!!! We have lots of conversations about what she did at school and who she played with.

So all in all it has been a pretty amazing year!!! We have loved every single minute of it and I hope I have documented it well on here. We are having two parties this weekend for her birthday and I can’t wait to see everyone and celebrate this wonderful child’s 1st birthday. We are so incredibly blessed that God chose us to be her parents. Thank you all for your love and support. Sweet Pea is so blessed to have so many people that love her!!!!

And the adventure is just beginning!!! Thank you for taking a walk down memory lane with me. What a Journey it has been!!!!!
